CONSIDER THEM AS NATIVE ISRAELITES

BIBLE TEXT: EZEKIEL 47: 13 - 23

God in his infinite mercy gives this command through Ezekiel: "you are to consider the strangers as native born Israelites (v 23). This is sequel to the promises in Isaiah 14:1 and 56:6-7. It is indeed a joyful consolation to know that there is no barrier anymore. The terminologies: Jews, gentiles, foreigners, Greek, bond, free have all ceased to exist. In this new Kingdom where king Jesus is going to rule in the seat of his father David, many of us who have been grafted in will by no means feel marginalized. There shall be no racism nor unequal treatment. God's express decree is, "in whatever tribe the stranger sojourns, there shall you give him his inheritance" (v 22-23).

This is possible because we have been washed and made whole by the blood of the lamb (without defect) Jesus. But now in Christ Jesus, you who were afar off are brought near by the blood of Jesus. He is our peace who has made us one and has broken down the middle wall of partition (Ephesians 2:13). In addition, Romans 2:12-13 promises: for there is no difference between the Jews and the Greek, for the same lord over all is rich onto all that call upon him. And anyone who calls upon the name of the lord shall be saved.

Hence, just as Ezekiel 47:22 describes these strangers, we also must have taken residence with the people of God. We eat their food, drink their water, inter marry with them and bear children. In other words we have taken residence with God's people. Their God has become our God. Their country our country; their land our land.  This means that we have naturalized as citizens of heaven. Our sole and divine mandate for life is to live in honour of him who died and resurrected for us. Then shall nothing stop us from having inheritance with the saints. For We are called into the commonwealth of the redeemed fully conforming to the image of Christ.

Prayer: Thank you father that there is no east or west in you. In your sight everyone who accepts your son Jesus and lives in obedience to his teachings is a genuine member of your family. Grant that we imbibe this virtue of love in you and treat with fairness all who may be dwelling as sojourners in our own spheres. In Jesus name we have prayed. Amen!DEVOTIONAL:
