PRAISE GOD FROM THE HEART

Text: Psalms 9: 1-10

David is one man from whom we can learn a lot about how to serve God. He stands out in the Scriptures over the dispensations as one who placed a high premium on praising God. Most of his Psalms are basically songs of praise in which he recounts the goodness and mercies of God.

Who are we actually that God should take cognisance of us. David asked this question in one of the Psalms. Today the spirit of God is asking me and you. Isn't it humbling and even overwhelming that God in all of his glory, splendour, power and majesty still  worry about us. He is so concerned about our well being that he not only gave up Jesus for us, He endorses us by the power of his holy spirit and even gives angels to be at our beck and call. What can we do for this God other than to raise our voices in awe of him, worshipping him with every breath that we are able to make?

As David recounts from verses 4-9 the lord reigns from his seat of power in the highest realm. He rules and judges the nations in righteousness; yesterday, today and for all eternity.  Therefore, we need not fear what the enemy can do. He may afflict us and it may seem that God is silent. But, God is actually working according to his own timing to give us perfect deliverance, perfect victory and perfect judgement. All he needs is for us to trust in Him,  wait on his unfailing promises and learn the lessons he expects us to learn from such situations.

Finally, verse 10 assures us again

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you lord have never forsaken those who seek you

Beloved, that is another wonderful promise. We are not to trivialize God's word. He wants us to hold tenaciously to every single word he's spoken and bank on them. For he has regarded his words even more than his name. He will never forsake anyone who seeks him. Concentrate on this word and watch it chase away every shadow of doubt around you. So that your praise will pour out to him from the deepest part of your soul. Amen!
