FRUIT FOR FOOD AND LEAVES FOR HEALING

SCRIPTURE TEXT:  Ezekiel 47:1-12

The theme for today is extracted from verse 12. It reads:

 Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve as food and their leaves for healing

Interestingly, the reason for these divine attributes is because the water from the sanctuary flows through them. This takes us to the beginning verses where Ezekiel's guide brought him to the entrance of the temple. Ezekiel could see a miraculous thing. River was issuing from beneath the temple and flowing from the South to the East. This is what distinguishes Ezekiel's prophecy and stands it out as apocalypse. The temple here is clearly not the old temple in Jerusalem but rather, another futuristic temple where all that God ever required or desired would be actualized. 

Consequently, due consideration must be given to verses 3 to 6. These verses clearly symbolize the levels of spirituality available to and attainable by all believers. The word of God which is the water of regeneration is capable of getting us deeply drowned in it if we activate it in our lives daily. We activate it by eating, chewing, digesting it and then allowing it to nourish us. The description here calls to mind the song "Oceans where feet may fail" (by Hillsong United).  I love the part that says: "spirit lead me where my trust is without borders". This is exactly what this description here says to me. The water of the spirit of God activated by His word leads us to the point where our trust and faith in God is without borders, indeed. 

Hence, when believers allow themselves to be carried along by the current of God's word. Then will the promise be fulfilled, "the knowledge of the glory  of God will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea. (Habakuk 2:14).  Every living and non living thing, physical and spiritual will feel and know the presence of the saviour. For even things poisonous and environmentally desecrated areas will be healed. Then shall all bear fruits always, in season and out, for their source is the living water flowing directly from God himself. Then shall healing indeed become the bread of the children.
