GOD DESTROYS THE EARTH

Text: Genesis 6:1-22

God destroyed the earth he created in the past. This happened during the time of Noah the tenth man from Adam as a result of the multiplicity of evil. God has promised to do it again on the coming day of the lord (2Peter 3)

Scripture: verses 5 -6 "and God saw that the wickedness of man was very great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented God that He had made man on the earth and it grieved him at his heart".

Just as a terrible child brings regrets, tears and sorrow to the hearts of his parents, so the human race failed God. He regretted creating man! This is deep. For God whose nature is love to regret creating man, meaning he wished he never brought man into existence. Man is unimaginably depraved!

Yet, in mercy he found Noah. A man with a difference. And he became the object of his Grace (v8) Even thou he lives in the midst of evil doers, he wouldn't join the multitude to do evil. Verse 9 says he was found perfect in his generations. What a glorious testimony. Noah would become the champion of escape route from the coming destruction to all who are willing to be saved. He received God's directive to build a gigantic ark to house all who will be delivered from the impending danger. At last only him and his family were the ones willing to be saved. The rest of the multitude of people inhabiting the then world completely perished.  God has promised another imminent destruction upon this present world. In 2 Peter 3 we are told that this very earth (and even the heavens) is reserved for fire. Everything will melt with fervent heat.

Therefore, What manner of men ought we to be? We must be men who are diligent to be found in peace without spot and blameless (2 Pt 3:14). Christ Jesus is the escape route from the imminent destruction. In 1Thess 4 : 13-17, brother Paul describes the scenario very well. There is going to be a 'catching up' of all  who have found grace with God in this dispensation, just like Noah, before that great and terrible day of the Lord. So we look forward to this time of His coming. A time that will mark the end of this system of things and usher in the reign of Christ as the king. So what? Read 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11. Endeavour to stay awake to stay safe!

Prayer: Father, your spirit indeed shall not struggle with man forever. You are righteous and holy and of purer eyes than to behold iniquity. It is your right to decide if the world you created is fit to remain in existence or not. We only ask that your mercy will overcome your justice.  Grant grace to all who are willing, all over the earth, to come into this ark of relationship with your son Jesus that they might be safe from the coming wrath and judgement. We ask this in his most precious name, Amen!
