TRUSTING IN THE NAME OF THE LORD

Text: Psalms 20:1 - 9

Trusting in the name of the Lord is one advantage believers have over unbelievers. Verse 7 is very explicit. It reads, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we will remember the name of the  Lord our God.   And proverbs 18:10 assures us that the name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe". This is a wonderful privilege. A powerful assurance. Believers are indeed blessed. For us to have access and claim to the name of the Lord most high, the maker of heaven and earth is surely a wonderful privilege. Many put their hope in their wealth and riches, but we know that these things can always disappoint. But God can ever fail.

He that has God has everything, we need not look to the east and west or north to south, our help comes only from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. May we not trivialise his name. May we treat his name as holy and consecrated. May we trust that his name is more powerful than any level of human connections. His name can open doors even the power of death cannot stand before him and most importantly, let us cherish this privilege and access we have to His name. It is the most wonderful privilege anyone should crave for when the righteous pray in His name great and mighty things happen.

And I join the psalmist to declare these prayers over you:

May the lord hear you in the day of trouble

May he send help from the sanctuary

May he remember all your offerings and accept your burnt offering

May he grant you your heart desires

PRAYER: Father, thank you for the gift of your name. The name that is mightier than any other name. Help us never to trivialise your name but live in reverence to it all the days of our lives that we may benefit from the authority it carries in Jesus name. Amen
