BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY

Text: Genesis 9:1-17

To be fruitful and multiply and have dominion over all other created things was God's command to Adam. Today, God repeats the same mandate to Noah. Again he demands of him "be fruitful and multiply"

God further makes a clear indication about the sanctity of life and the sacredness of blood; both of man and animals. He commands not to shed blood and not to eat meat with blood in it. For blood represents life.

No human being has any right to shed the blood of another man. Those who trivialise God's laws and commit this sacrilege have God's wrath awaiting them.

Moreso, it is obvious that God wants the earth to be preserved. He has a plan for the earth to be filled up with humans and animals alike. He wants the natural cycles he has put in place to remain unchanged. Man must ensure this by replenishing the dead with new births and ensuring that all inhabitants of the earth are safe. Hence, excessive birth control negates God's plan for the earth. Similarly, every blood spilled, every wasted life must be accounted for says verses 4 - 7.

Lesson: Marriage is very important to God because God desires a holy seed. Any teaching that advocates singleness, same sex marriage, divorce, compulsory birth control, etc are working against God plan for the earth. 

Father, marriage is under heavy attack in our world today. Man has suggested many alternatives to the sacred bond of marriage in disregard to your desire to fill the earth, increase and multiply. In your mercy, sustain all who in obedience wish to stay in their marital relationships and do your will, through Christ Jesus. Amen
