FAITH COMES TO YOU
Text : Romans 4:13-25
Faith in God presents itself to us in various ways, inviting us into a close relationship with God. There is no other better way to describe the basis by which God draws men to himself other than implicit trust. Faith is that belief in the utmost efficacy of God's ability to perform what He says.
*In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.*
Romans 4:18-21 ESV
The above scriptures underscores the uniqueness of Abraham's faith in God. In response to the physical realities surrounding his situation, the man hoped against hope. He trusted in the God who has the ability to call forth things that were not, into existence. That is the kind of faith we are talking about. It is God's standard for the people He would relate with. He wants a family built on trust and loyalty. Abraham proved himself faithful and worthy by the virtue of his faith, therefore, God called him, his own.
In the same manner, Faith approaches us today in the person of Jesus. Faith asks us to accept God's intervention in the issue of balancing the equation of sin. His son Jesus was the solution. The constant of sin and death only found solution in Christ. God in his infinite wisdom and mercy knows that man cannot pay the debt he owes, so he took flesh, kept his divine power in heaven and came down to redeem man by Himself. This he completed and makes only one demand from man: "believe in what I have done". "And as many that would accept him, He gives power to become the children of God.
Faith calls out to you today dear friend. Do you still trust in any other thing outside Jesus for your right standing with God? You're living a lie. Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life. There is no other name given among men by which we must be saved. Your religion does not matter. It is a personal decision for you to make. Remember Cornelius in Acts chapter 10? Bible described him as a pious man who is given to charity and worships God with his entire household. Yet in recognition of his exceptional goodness, God asked him to send men to Joppa to find Peter, who will tell him what he must do.
Beloved, God has given you eternal life. But it is hidden in his son Jesus. Only those who approach God in faith and trust to his unchanging word concerning Jesus would inherit this life. One thing only was required from Cornelius: to believe in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus, the one whom God has sent to redeem the world. As soon as he believed, the holy spirit fell upon him and his household. Today is yet another opportunity to decide for Christ Jesus. Accept what God has ordained about him and God will count it as righteousness unto you. Nothing in your hand, as per works of righteousness will do, simply cling to the cross of the righteous one.
Father, faith calls us to you. Faith unites us with you and faith brings us home to you. Renew our faith today to remain active and lively, announcing your glory to the world, Amen 🙏
