THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST

Text:  (Romans 1:1-17)

Romans 1:16,17

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."

The above verses, summarize our faith and the route of salvation. All that God began to do throughout the ages were to ensure the culmination of all things in the salvation and redemption from sin and death He brings through his son, Jesus. At the fullness of time, God offered Jesus on the cross as the wages for sin and death for ALL MANKIND. It is in the gospel that the righteousness of God is revealed. Men had for ages sought it but failed short of the glory of God. Now, in Christ, it is revealed. The key is faith - only believe. Abraham understood this centuries back and earned the title of the 'father of faith'. We are justified by faith - this may sound simple, but that is the revelation that makes the difference.

So the power of God in a life is first expressed by righteousness which is the sign that such a one has escaped the very limitation common to all men. So why should we be ashamed to share the gospel since it is the vehicle that carries this revelation? Unless we speak the word, none shall be saved. Moreso, it is important to know what we are saved from. If it is just from poverty, sickness, failures, then, we need to weep for our miserable lives. But if it is ultimately from sin and eternal death unto righteousness; then, we have tasted the power of God

Therefore, for both those who believe it now, for those who do not believe and for those who are yet to believe; salvation is possible only through faith in Jesus. The Jews believe in the law, while the gentiles believe in whatever they like.  But the word of God says, "the years of your ignorance I have overlooked". Now everyone everywhere is expected to turn to Jesus and live. Those who still argue are blinded and this is where God calls all believers to work. Paul declares "I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God that brings salvation". 

So what? If you have been saved, you have an obligation towards others, just as Paul, to preach the Good news of God's goodness, mercy and love which brings salvation in His son, Jesus. There is no better way to enter the new month than to resolve to be more instant in preaching, teaching, rebuking and exhorting others in righteousness. Remain blessed as you do this in Jesus name Amen. 

🙏 Father, we are privileged to be part of those you have saved and redeemed from sin and death. Help us to burn with the desire to see the gospel preached to all men even to the ends of the Earth. Give us boldness to present the gospel to men, not as a means for self glory, but as the only means of salvation in Jesus name. Amen
