HERE COMES JESUS
HERE COMES JESUS
TEXT: MATT 3 V I
Welcome to the new month of the new year 2025.
Thank God you made it to the new year. It is a product of God's grace and mercy and a proof that God has not finished with you. Therefore use your time and days wisely to project His image and glory.
As we come into the new year what are your expectations, plans and resolutions? what have you thrown off and what new things are you bringing into your life. The ability to answer these questions will determine your commitment to God and humanity this year and make or mar your progress and success.
Remember, this is the beginning and the beginning of everything is usually used to lay a solid foundation for what you are going to do which will determine the strength of the structure of your projects. Therefore, as you celebrate consider the poor and less privileged, widows and orphans around you and even those far away from you. One of your greatest decisions this year should be to live a selfless, humble and dedicated life committed to the service of God.
Do not forget that the coming of Jesus Christ is at hand and may this knowledge lead you to do all things to the glory of His name. The Repentance message has gone into extinction in most of our churches and fellowships because people are no longer interested in repentance but in receiving the blessings of God. They forget that repentance proceeds God's blessings.
When John the Baptist was baptizing people the pharisees and Sadducees rushed to him to be baptized. He did not waste time to announce their wicked ways to them and asked them who told them to come for baptism with their old life? He made it clear to them that baptism is not for all comers to the church and fellowship but for those who have consciously repented of their sins.
This is where the trouble lies today, many are trooping into our churches and fellowships with their old lives thinking that sowing seeds of money will guarantee their salvation and some of our preachers who are conscious of money not the salvation of souls will not look at their face and tell them this blunt message John told the Pharisees and Sadducees to repent before baptism.
Many who are baptized into the faith have only a vague meaning of what the faith is all about because they refused to repent from their old lives and fully embrace the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. Before you are baptized, ask yourself whether you have repented and drop your old life of sin. God will not ask you how much money you made for Him on that day but how many souls you brought into His kingdom.
John made it clear that the righteousness of Abraham meaning your parents or relations will not give you a place in the kingdom of God. It is only in this world you can be given favour because of your family members known to the society. Moreover, we see the humility of Jesus Christ and that of John which should characterize our lives. John said he was baptizing with water but Jesus will baptize with Holy Spirit and fire and Jesus came to John to be baptized but John rather argued with Him that He should baptize him because He holds greater thing than what John have and that is Holy Spirit and fire and not he John baptizing Him.
But Jesus told him to allow it to be so to fulfill all righteousness. How humble are you in accepting a low place while your junior takes the high place? Do you know that some condemn orthodox methods today in handling spiritual things but Jesus Christ subjected Himself to orthodox baptism? Reduce whom you are this year and humble yourself so that God will lift you up. Stop being over spiritual over things that doesn't matter too much than your salvation.
Jesus Christ baptism was confirmed by the Holy Spirit and God spoke and confirmed that Christ is His beloved Son.
Have you received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? Anyone who refused to accept Him as the Son of God will lose His salvation and go to hell. Be warned!
As you go through this year, I pray for you, may you never lack the wisdom and knowledge to worship and follow God in Jesus name Amen. May God remember you this year as you serve Him in Spirit and Truth and show you mercy, grace and uncommon favours in all your endeavours in Jesus name Amen.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
